EPF Contribution Due Date Extended For The Month Of March 2020
EPFO vide notification no.C-I/Misc./2019-20/VolII./Part./9 has extended the due date for payment of contributions and administrative charges/ inspection charges due for wage month March 2020 from 15th April 2020 to 15th May 2020 i.e. grace period of thirty days (16th April 2020 to 15th May 2020) for filing of Electronic Challan cum Return(ECR) to establishments disbursing wages for March 2020. Employers seeking the above relief need to file ECR for wage month March 2020 on or before 15th May 2020 duly certifying the disbursement of wages to employees by declaring actual date of disbursement of wages for March 2020 in the column "Salary disbursal date" in the ECR and remit the contributions and administrative/inspection charges on or before 15th May 2020. Further Extension Of Time In Filing February 2020 ESI Contribution During The COVID-19 Pandemic
Employees State Insurance Corporation as a relief measure earlier extended the period for filing ESI contribution for the month of February 2020 and March 2020 to 15th April 2020 and 15th May 2020. Now after considering the hardships faced by the employers, the period for filing ESI contribution for the month of February has been further extended from earlier extended period i.e.15th April to 15th May 2020. ESI Contribution Due Date Extended For The Month Of February 2020
ESIC vide notification no P-11/14/Misc./1/2019 has further extended the ESI contribution due date for the month of February 2020 till 15th May 2020 instead of the earlier extended period of 15th April 2020 on account of the pandemic in the form of coronavirus. As per earlier ESIC notification no p-11/14/Misc/1/2019-Rev, ESI contribution for the month of February 2020 had been extended to forty-five days instead of fifteen days for the month of February. Now as per the new notification the time limit for payment of contribution under Regulation 31 has been extended to seventy-five days for the month of February 2020 only

EPFO has released the circular and guidelines to the implementation of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana Package for credit of Employees and Employers Share of EPF & EPS Contributions (24% of wages) for three months by Government of India. As per the notification to prevent disruption in the employment of low wage-earning employees and support establishments employing up to one hundred employees, the entire employees EPF contributions (12% of wages) and employers’ EPF & EPS contribution (12% of wages), totalling 24% of the monthly wages for the next three months shall be directly paid by the Central Govt. in the EPF accounts (UAN) of employees, who are already members of Employees Provident Funds Scheme,1952, drawing wages less than fifteen thousand rupees per month and employed in establishments, already covered under the Employees Provident Funds And Miscellaneous Provisions Act 1952, employing up to one hundred employees, with 90% or more of such employees earning less than fifteen thousand rupees monthly wages Please refer to the document for detailed information

Mandatory Submission Of Mobile Number And Bank Account Details For Registration Under ESIC
ESIC has mandated the submission of mobile number and bank account details (Bank name, Branch name and IFSC) for registration of new employee. Employers are required to update mobile number and bank account details of existing employees registered under the ESI Scheme. Employers can view the notice in their respective ESIC employer login. Currently, gazette notification has not been released, detailed notification may be published shortly.

The Government of India had amended the Employee Provident Fund Scheme,1952 dated 27th March 2020 vide gazette notification no.GSR.225. As per the notification the where any establishment or factory located in an area declared as affected by the outbreak of any epidemic or pandemic, a non-refundable advance to members under the scheme from the provident fund account not exceeding the basic wages and dearness allowances of that member for three months or upto seventy-five per cent of the amount standing to his credit in the fund, whichever is less. EPFO Circular On Acceptance Of Alternative Documents As A Valid Proof Of Date Of Birth
EPFO vide circular no.WSU/37(1)2019/DOB in supersession of earlier circulars dated 12th December 2006 and 12th December 2017 has accepted certain documents as a valid proof of date of birth in case of any dispute in the date of birth. As per the notification, the following are the list of documents:(1) Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths (2) Any School/education-related Certificate (3) Certificate based on the service records of the Central/ State Government Organisations (4) Passport (5) In the absence of proof of date of birth as above, Medical Certificate issued by Civil Surgeon after examining the member medically and supported with an affidavit on oath by the member duly authenticated by a Competent Court (6) Aadhar/e-Aadhar: the change in date of birth shall be accepted as per Aadhar /e- Aadhar up to a maximum range of plus or minus three years of the date of birth recorded earlier with EPFO. Press Release On Advice To EPFO Members To Avail Online Services Of EPFO On Account Of COVID-19
Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) vide press release advises it members, pensioners and employers to avail various online services offered by EPFO, from the comfort of their homes, and to avoid visiting EPFO offices. Most of the services of EPFO are available online. An employee can generate his/her own Universal Account Number (UAN), activate his/her UAN and seed it with Aadhaar, PAN, Bank Account and mobile number (KYC seeding). Employee can also make nominations, view balance in the passbook, update his/her date of exit, transfer his/her account from unexempted to exempted establishment and vice-versa. Employees have been further empowered to raise claims online for Provident Fund advances or final withdrawal; pension or Insurance benefits (EDLI) and receive payment of PF/Pension/Insurance benefits directly in his/her bank account. Similarly, a pensioner can download his/her Pension Payment Order (PPO) or preserve it in Digi locker; know his PPO number with the help of his/her bank account number or UAN and view passbook. Pensioners can also update Jeevan Praman (Digital Life Certificate) online any time of the year. Employers can register their establishments under EPF & MP Act, 1952 and obtain establishment ID; make payment of EPF and allied dues through RTGS/NEFT and submit Electronic Challan cum Return (ECR). Employers have also been facilitated to avail e-inspections of their establishments. In case employees, employers and pensioners have any grievance they can get them resolved online through EPFigms portal.
